It’s hard to believe that it’s been 75 years since Main Line Fence first incorporated. The world has changed a lot since 1948, but Main Line Fence remains successful because we adapt with the times on some things – like embracing new technology – while refusing to compromise on other things – like our commitment to client satisfaction.
Our Beginnings & Over the Years
Main Line Fence began as a division of Robbins & White, a structural steel erection company in Portland, but in 1948 we officially became a separate division named Main Line Fence. In 1969, another major transition occurred when Norris Cianchette bought the business. Since then – for over 50 years – the company has been owned and operated by members of the Cianchette family.
Over the years, we’ve handled some of the most prominent fencing projects in the state of Maine as well as many residential projects. We’ve put up the guardrails on I-295 and the Maine Turnpike, handled projects at military bases, and put up the fencing for the state’s Supermax Prison. Residential clients have trusted us with projects of many shapes and styles, and we’ve established a strong reputation for our cedar fences – leading to an expansion of our cedar fabrication shop in 2015.
No matter the project’s size or client, we’ve always given our full, 100% and that’s why we’re still such a trusted company 75 years on.
In Our 75th Year
Now, Main Line Fence is owned by Norris Cianchette’s son Rocky and managed by Rocky’s son Ryan, Main Line Fence retains the operating style and values of a local, family-owned business. Under Ryan’s leadership, we’ve firmly moved into the 21st century, using technology like digital estimates to better and more efficiently serve our clients. In our 75th year, we’re proud to be able to handle over 500 projects each year without sacrificing an ounce of client service or quality. We’re grateful to every client and every project that has helped us get where we are today, celebrating 75 years in business. Thank you!
